COAT AND EYE COLOR

THESE LITTLE GUYS COME IN A RAINBOW OF COAT AND EYE COLORS. MOSTLY THE EYE COLORS ARE BLUE AND BROWN BUT CAN ALSO BE  GREEN, COPPER AND VARIATIONS OF SEVERAL OF THE ABOVE COLORS. THEIR COATS CAN BE BLACK OR RED WITH WHITE AND COPPER AS TRIM COLORS - REFERRED TO AS BLACK TRI AND RED TRI OR THEY CAN BE BLUE MERLE OR RED MERLE. TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE COLORING CLICK HERE

SIZE MATTERS

Everybody always asks 'How big will my puppy get?' Toy Aussie's backs come to about  the middle of your shin bone. There can be several sizes of pups in one litter. See photo #1 to right. I took measurements of every pup every week for their whole time with me and beyond if they were staying here and thought I had it figured out but all I've done is narrowed it down I think. So please don't ask me exactly how many inches tall a pup will get to be.I will be able to give you a rough idea and I wont lie to you as alot of breeders will. The last pup I bought from a breeder amazingly grew an amazing 1 1/2" between the night before I got him when she measured him and the next day when I drove 5 hours 1 way to pick him up - I don't appreciate being lied to about size either. She knew that that 1 1/2" probably meant he would be a small mini and not a toy but aparently the money was her top priority and not the truth.

Sometimes we get 'dinkies' as we call them here. These are pups that are VERY small. See photo #2. These two girls are full sisters from the same litter. Mouse weighs 4 pounds and is 8" tall whereas Cleo is 12" tall and weighs 12 pounds. There is alot of genetics at play here. These 'dinkie' pups are BETWEEN 1 1/2 TO  2 pounds when they are 8 weeks. If you email me and tell me that you are really wanting these dinkies please know that they are VERY small and usually cannot even play with the other pups in their litters because of the size difference. They are very sweet and cute and have no idea they are so tiny so they always need to be watched out for to keep them from harm. 

I get alot of questions regarding the size differences in the toy(14" and under), mini (14"-18") and standard (18" and up) Aussies so I am posting some pictures to try and let people see the differences. Please note that this was done on a whim so nobody is brushed, washed or prettied up in any way and my 5 year old daughter took the pictures. Also the dogs didn't really think my game of 'Lets sit by the rock on a hot day and let a 5 year old take pictures of you' was the great fun that I promised them. Draggin was the last photographed because he thought the game was so lousy he peed on the rock, so at that point it stopped being fun for everybody, so we gave up. Well hopefully these pictures can answer some size questions........

First we have Bounce. She is a standard female. She stands about 20" at the shoulder and weighs 60 pounds.

WE NO LONGER BREED STANDARDS

 This is Destiny. She is a mini female that stands 16" at the shoulder and weighs 25 pounds.

WE NO LONGER BREED MINIS

 This is Demi. She is a toy that is 11" at the shoulder and weighs 10 pounds.

Prices for toys are between $600 - $1800; BLUE EYED TRI PUPPIES ARE BETWEEN $1500 - $5000. 

 And finally we have Draggin' whom you can see is not amused and not being as well behaved as the girls. I do have to give him credit though, by now my 5 year old photographer has quit and Draggin' has to work with just me. Since he is not sitting up straight it kinda ruined the series of shots as did the rock peeing incident, but he was trying and it was hot. Hopefully you get the size idea. Draggin is a toy. He is 13 1/4" tall and he is a stocky 15 pounds

SO YOU WANT TO BE A DOG BREEDER

ALOT OF PEOPLE DECIDE BREEDING DOGS FOR CASH IS EASY AND A GREAT IDEA. AFTER ALL, THE DOGS DO ALL THE WORK - RIGHT? WRONG!! FIRST YOU NEED TO FIND THE RIGHT DOGS. WHAT TRAITS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR? DO YOU WANT TO MAKE THE BREED BETTER? HEALTHIER? HAPPIER? HAIRIER? OR IS JUST SALEABLE OK WITH YOU?  THESE ARE ARE QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ASK YOURSELF. USUALLY PEOPLE THAT DECIDE TO SELL PUPPIES END UP WITH SEVERAL DOGS TO HELP THIS PROCESS ALONG. DO YOU LIKE GOING ON VACATION? OR GOING AWAY FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS AT A TIME? IF SO, I HOPE YOU HAVE SOME GREAT DOGSITTERS AT YOUR DISPOSAL BECAUSE BOARDING SEVERAL DOGS GETS VERY EXPENSIVE.
